What is skills and qualifications management?

Skills and qualifications management lets the company give specific characteristics to people or machines, so that it can assign suitable tasks to its staff (employees, subcontractors, temporary workers) accordingly.

Why manage skills and qualifications in the MES:

With skills and qualifications management, the MES can propose more realistic scheduling, taking these points into account to assign tasks to the right people. It is also possible to assign preferred workstations to an operator.

This refines scheduling through workload calculation and available options. KmProd can therefore determine for you what each operator is able to work on and help you assign tasks according to your prior configuration.

Example:

  • My operator A has qualifications 1 and 2.
  • My operator B has qualification 3.
  • My MO 1 requires qualification 3 to be carried out.
  • If my operator A tries to launch MO 1, a warning message appears because they do not have the necessary qualifications / authorisations.
  • The MES proposes scheduling that takes the operators’ qualifications and skills into account. It therefore assigns MO 1 to operator B.

Skills and qualifications management in KmProd:

With KmProd, you can manage skills directly in the MES. You can assign mandatory skills / authorisations to your shops and machines. These prerequisites are also assigned to your staff. KmProd can then offer you suggestions as notifications, all tailored to your needs.

A real case:

KmProd can alert your operator if they have the skills needed to launch a particular MO but last carried it out too long ago. This “deadline” that triggers the alert is adjusted according to customer requirements, and can also alert the manager so that they can approve or refuse the launch of the MO in question, avoiding delays, errors or problems.

The screenshot below shows how skills and assignments can be updated by simple drag and drop, for each team member or machine.
