Meta 2i was founded in Saint-Étienne in 1989. We are still here, at the Grande Usine Créative.
MES publisher & integrator since 1989
Publisher and integrator of production monitoring and MES software based in Saint-Étienne, Meta 2i has been helping manufacturers optimise their production processes since 1989, with an innovative, tailor-made solution suited to their challenges. The company has since grown, particularly in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), and now has an entity based in Riyadh. Our group employs 35 people.
Our expertise improves the performance, traceability and reliability of industrial operations while making it easier to manage shop floors and resources. Our experts, developers and project managers, know your trades and your plants. They all visit your shop floors regularly (20 days on site per year on average) to stay as close as possible to your challenges.
From snowmaking to the shop floor
Meta 2i was founded in 1989 on a project well ahead of its time: controlling snowmaking turbines in ski resorts. It took embedded automation adjusting the flow to temperature and humidity, data sent back to a central station, and remote supervision of the whole installation, alarms included.
Dominique Blanc, fresh out of INSA Lyon and the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, took on the challenge with the project’s backers. The know-how then moved into industry, starting with aluminium: collecting data as close to the machines as possible to run production better.
A new generation takes over
After thirty years at the head of the company, Dominique Blanc hands the company over to its managers David Fernandes, Faisal Bin Dos and Sylvain Girard, brought together in KM Software, the company that owns Meta 2i today. Their plan opens two new paths: international growth and software publishing. By then, around ten customers had been working with us for more than twenty years.
Heading for Saudi Arabia
An agreement signed at GITEX 2020 with the integrator Sure Global Tech opens up the Saudi market. We have been going back regularly ever since, up to the LEAP show in 2025.
Twice the space
In May 2024, we double the size of our offices without leaving the Grande Usine Créative. The team is growing, and newcomers finally have a desk of their own.
