We asked many professionals and <a href=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/en\/partners-integrators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KmProd users<\/a> for their views on before and after the MES was introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here are the 5 returns on investment of the KmProd MES.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/logo_kmprod_art.jpg\" alt=\"logo kmprod\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reminder: <a href=\"https:\/\/kmprod.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KmProd<\/a> is a MES solution dedicated to optimising production shops (in industry and plants, single-site or multi-site). Developed in France, its modules adapt to each shop to make communication easy between the machine, the operator and the decision-maker.<br>Definitions: an industrial term you don&rsquo;t know? Discover our <a href=\"https:\/\/kmprod.eu\/lexique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">glossary<\/a> (in French), which will help you with technical terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Better scrap management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some shops manage their stock with their ERP, others with business process management software. The task can be complex, even awkward for operators, especially between offices and shops. It can also lead to a loss of performance (and therefore of productivity!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, some scrap entry scenarios (products withdrawn from sale because of non-conformities) do not reflect what actually happens in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example: an operator damages a coil in the warehouse while driving a forklift. They may have to link it to a manufacturing order in order to scrap it. This then creates<strong> a stock valuation anomaly.<\/strong><br>&gt; The data becomes rather unreliable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/gestion-des-rebuts-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"gestion des rebuts\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If, on the other hand, you use a MES solution such as KmProd, not only is entry time reduced (the action is simpler for the operator), but the data collected by the solution is more reliable and reflects the shop&rsquo;s movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking the same example: if scrap is found in stock, the operator can record scrap that is not linked to a manufacturing order (MO).<br>The data sent up to the ERP (e.g. SAP) is then more relevant, because it reflects the actual stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More methodical scheduling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/logo_tous_logciels_kmextrusion.webp\" alt=\"Logo KmProd Extrusion\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After implementing <a href=\"https:\/\/kmextrusion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KmExtrusion<\/a> (the version of KmProd specialised for aluminium extrusion) at our industrial customers and partners, we estimate that a manufacturer cuts the time spent on scheduling by 20%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service level also rises by 20% to 30%, thanks to our work-in-progress visualisation interfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of our users was struggling to plan production. The average lead time of its process was 5 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scheduler&rsquo;s sequencing was done day by day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paper production sequences were launched by the operator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The interfaces were complicated and unintuitive, which increased entry time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There was poor visibility on OTD (On Time Delivery), which affected the customer journey.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The service level was estimated at <b>40 to 50%<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a more graphical, fluid scheduling interface and real-time production sequencing at the operator&rsquo;s workstation, the users of our MES solution have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/time.png\" alt=\"time\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saved time on data entry and communication with the shop floor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/commande.png\" alt=\"commande\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Managed priorities and workloads, giving the scheduler more visibility on orders and production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/calendar.png\" alt=\"calendar\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Run material requirements planning (MRP) more often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/user.png\" alt=\"user\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improved the customer journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/notebook.png\" alt=\"notebook\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A longer schedule, closer to the order book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/coins.png\" alt=\"coins\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>An average production lead time of 2 weeks with a 90% service level.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To find out more, read our <a href=\"https:\/\/meta2i.com\/eu\/en\/academy\/lordonnancement-dans-votre-logiciel-mes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article on scheduling<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Better quality management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When data is no longer entered in software such as Excel, entry becomes simpler and is built directly into the production process. The recorded data is of better quality, and the operator saves time.<br>To put a figure on this time saving, we asked a company how much it estimated (in euros) the time spent on the administrative management of scrap and MOs. <strong>Its answer was \u20ac100k a year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a MES solution, our studies found that centralising data in KmProd can save up to 50% of the time spent on these tasks each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Benefits compared with each shop keeping its own documentation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time saved on document management: through the MES, shops instantly find the documents of other shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Money saved, estimated on average at \u20ac3,000 a year \u2014 the budget spent on printing, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">50% time saved on administrative tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More reliable production analysis and reporting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you export your data and tracking to data analysis \/ Business Intelligence software (such as Microsoft Power BI)?<br>You have probably noticed that exporting and re-entering data is a time-consuming, low-value task for a manager.<br>A MES such as KmProd spares you these tasks, because everything is updated in real time. This improves the quality of the data captured (and how it is processed).<br>It has also been observed that, in many cases, simply using KmProd in the shop motivates operators and increases production rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A few figures:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of a customer&rsquo;s cutting line was estimated at 65% before moving to KmProd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An increase in OEE and TRG (OEE over opening time) by half of the remaining gap to 100% after moving to KmProd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An example of industrial process optimisation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is an example of optimisation on a specific machine. Bear in mind that this is only an illustration: KmProd adapts to many use cases.
